Preschools
If you are working, studying or looking for a job when moving to Sandviken Municipality, your child is entitled to a preschool placement from the age of 1 to 5.
Children who are 3 years old are entitled to public preschool. This is offered to all children from the autumn term of the year they turn 3.
In Sandviken Municipality, there are both municipal and independent preschools, To get a preschool placement, you need to submit an application.
Public preschool
Your child is entitled to public preschool starting from the autumn term of the year they turn 3. This applies to all children, regardless of the parents’ employment status or family situation. Public preschool offers 15 hours per week and is free of charge. The times offered are Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 11:00 or 13:00 to 16:00.
What does childcare cost?
When your child attends preschool or pedagogical care, you pay a monthly fee based on your household income. The fee is charged 12 times a year.
The amount you pay depends on your total household income and the number of children in the family who attend childcare.
There is a maximum limit for how much you can be charged for childcare.
Applying for Preschool
To get a preschool placement in Sandviken Municipality, you can apply through an e-service on the municipality’s website.
